We started with just the Compass Consultation for our new condominium — honestly expected it to be a bit of a sales pitch for the bigger package. It wasn't. We received a proper written brief, useful observations about our layout challenges, and directional suggestions that we actually followed. Very glad we started here.

The 3D renders made an enormous difference. I'd been through the process before with another designer and the renders bore no resemblance to what was eventually built. Here, the finished apartment matched the drawings closely — and any deviations were flagged in advance during the construction phase, not discovered after the fact.

Hired Rune Spaces for implementation only — I had my own architect's plans and just needed someone reliable on site. Lena managed the contractors well and the weekly reports were actually useful rather than just perfunctory. The timeline slipped by about ten days due to tile delivery delays, which was flagged early and honestly communicated. That kind of transparency matters.

What I appreciated most was that Suria never made me feel rushed to make decisions. I changed my mind about the kitchen joinery colour twice, and neither time was it treated as an inconvenience. The communication throughout was clear and things were explained in practical terms, not designer jargon. Would use Rune Spaces again without hesitation.

Used the full three-service package for a 1,500 sq ft condo renovation. The Blueprint was thorough — the specification sheets alone saved significant back-and-forth with the contractor. The implementation phase ran smoothly. The final styling session was a nice touch; the space genuinely looked finished, not just constructed.

I came in somewhat sceptical — interior design fees in KL can be quite opaque. The fixed pricing structure here made it easy to understand what I was paying for. Kiran's spatial analysis was particularly helpful; we had a narrow living area that I'd struggled to arrange for three years. The floor plan proposal solved it in a way I hadn't considered.

Project Stories

A closer look at how a few projects came together from brief to completion.

CASE 01

Bangsar South Apartment — Full Project

Services: All three

Duration: 14 weeks total

850 sq ft, 2-bedroom condominium. The client had recently purchased the unit and wanted a layout that supported remote work without the second bedroom feeling like a neglected office corner.

The Situation

Standard developer layout had the master bedroom and second bedroom separated by a narrow corridor with poor natural light. The living area faced the view but the furniture configuration prevented it from being used for anything except watching television.

Our Approach

Consultation identified the opportunity to reconfigure the secondary bedroom into a dual-purpose study with a daybed alcove. Blueprint developed this fully with custom joinery specification. Implementation oversaw the carpentry and installation over 12 weeks.

The Outcome

The reconfigured space now functions as a proper study during the day and guest-ready room for visitors. The living area, reoriented from the window, became the room's focal point. Client noted a meaningful change in how they used the apartment daily.

"The study alcove was Suria's suggestion. I'd described the problem but hadn't imagined that solution. That's precisely why I came to them." — Azlan H.

CASE 02

Petaling Jaya Office Conversion — Blueprint Only

Services: Design Blueprint

Duration: 8 weeks

A 1,200 sq ft shophouse being converted from storage to a working design studio for a 12-person team. The client had a contractor in place and needed a complete design package for handover.

The Situation

Double-storey shophouse with a mezzanine. The existing layout had load-bearing walls in places that made open-plan working difficult. Several natural light sources were blocked by the previous use's shelving and storage configurations.

Our Approach

Blueprint package included a full spatial analysis working within structural constraints, a lighting design that maximised the eastern-facing shopfront, and a modular furniture specification that allowed the team layout to adapt over time without requiring further renovation.

The Outcome

Contractor completed the build in 11 weeks using the handover package with minimal clarification queries. Client reported the specification sheets were detailed enough that material procurement was completed before construction began, reducing delays significantly.

"I've worked with designers who hand over a mood board and call it done. This was an actual working document." — Priya T.

CASE 03

Damansara Heights Bungalow — Implementation

Services: Implementation Navigation

Duration: 16 weeks

3,200 sq ft landed home undergoing full renovation. The owners were relocating to Singapore for six months and needed someone accountable to manage the project in their absence.

The Situation

Full scope: repainting, new kitchen, flooring replacement throughout, bathroom refurbishment in three bathrooms, custom storage in four rooms. Design had been completed by a separate architect. Multiple contractors involved.

Our Approach

Lena managed three separate contractor relationships across the project. Weekly photo and written reports were sent to the owners in Singapore. Two instances of specification deviation — tile installation direction and kitchen hood clearance — were caught during site visits before completion, rectified at contractor cost.

The Outcome

Project completed two weeks ahead of the owners' return. Final styling session was conducted on the day of handover. Owners reviewed a documented record of every site visit, decision made, and issue resolved across the project duration.

"Knowing that someone was physically on site and documenting everything was the only reason we could leave the country without worrying." — Jeffrey L.
